A beta-tester's tale

Hi folks,

While we are all eagerly awaiting Dragonsire's official release I thought I would share with you one of the more interesting bugs that I ran into... Take this as a warning as to what can happen with beta files, LOL.  And remember, don't save your game when using beta files!

I'll try not to give too much away for those of you who want to be surprised, but I have to tell a little to tell the story, so as River would say.... *Spoilers!*

What's Next?

Obviously bug fixes to previous objects released as they popup will be coming, but next up Wave 4. Alot of this is already done, but certainly not being released for awhile. Still lots of stuff to do.

A couple FAQ about these items.

  • Triggering the cracks will be manual.
  • There will be a reward for completing the cracks event.
  • There will be a nasty consequence if you fail.
  • No decision if BIG BANG TWO will be included or not. Yes its possible, but could create some nasty coding issues.
  • Punishment will be limited to Current Family, to avoid entire world destruction..However may add ability to destroy world for those who want to lol
  • Shada is meant to be a separate lot from active game.
  • SimHenge is meant to be PLACED on a seperate lot.
  • Pandorica will function similar in nature to CryoStasis. But offer temporal protection.

Wave 1 - 3 Public Beta Released

I decided to release early. I'm sure there are things I have overlooked. So please consider these files beta. That means if something goes horribly wrong.....might have wished you have used a testing save game instead.

I will be removing the password blocks shortly. The links below should all be downloaded in order for all things to work.

A few things...

  • If not using Late Night, don't ask why these don't work. You need late night, period.
  • If looking for guides/pdf they are not done/updated yet.
  • These are beta, treat them as such.
  • Yes there maybe bugs. I'm releasing early get over it.
  • If you find a bug, give me details, just saying it don't work..doesn't help.
  • World travel has not been fully tested, some features may not work.
  • Some console functions are not yet available.
  • Some fucntions on console are not meant to be used inside tardis
  • I will be releasing bug fixes perodicly, you will only need to downlaod the shared script file, unless directed otherwise.
  • ...I'm sure I have forgotten something.
This is why you should never post files at 3am. I apparently forgot a couple important menus, inluding become owener of it can be used these where in debug menus, and never gave a thought lol. I will not be home to update links until very late tonight. I will post an updated script file then. Sorry about that lol. Damn 3 am brain.   So apparently this is in the menu... don't know, try enjoy, if its not I'll fix tonight.

Don't know what went on last couple days, but some posts got reverted, some missing...blogger messed up I'm guessing. Thought when they fixed, everything would be the same lol.

I had to change my base tardis object, due to some annoying issues trying to maintain the animated door from its cloned base object. I have switched it to a more changed state method. Few reasons, 1 placement works better,  2 chameleon circuit easier to maintain. I left the adaptive method to still be used if need be, but for now I think this is best. Still works, appears virtually the i will try things this way for a bit.

Well I will be releasing files soon, damn near finished. Mostly just needs some deep bug testing, and world travel still needs recoded. Files will be posted needing a password , soon as all links are updated i will be removing the password.

I will be posting files regardless if 100% before Monday. Just wanna try and remove the majority of bugs first. Every time you add 1 thing 3 break lol. I added a ton this week so just need to be sure I didn't overlook some stuff.

Still threat files as beta. But please report bugs, detailed examples please only. I'll update post soon as everything is ready.

Nearly Done - YEAH!

Yeah this has been well beyond what I had planned. But so far I am very happy with the result. I have just finished fixing the time ring, tardis current world traveling, inside doors, skill dialogs etc etc etc lol

Trust me you don't want to know how many hours I have put into this... it's really rather sick lol.

I have 5 main areas of coding left to do before final public ready beta release. By that I mean free to use, enjoy and report bugs etc. I MAY release another public preview tomorrow...err i guess. Haven't decided yet. Mainly because after removing a ton of old no longer used code and fixing all the broken stuff, i need to fix that section before releasing. So MAYBE late whatever.

This will be last post until all code done. Below I will have listed the sections left to finalize before releasing for breaking. I will also post quick links here to more easily navigate. Don't be stupid and try downloading 1 or 2 of the packages... most of my code interlinks to others if you want problems don't listen. If you don't have Late Night don't cry to me later that something isn't working...Ive already had 3 cases of that...

Since I am so close to finishing I have just decided to wait. There's very little left now. Soon as I can squeeze in enough time to finish I will post the links. I will likely be adding some additional features to the existing objects with wave 4, instead of holding back release. Wave 4 will be released with late night support regardless if Generations is out prior or not. I'm looking forward to finishing Wave 4, so I can begin making new things...and maybe bringing back and old friend....more to come.

Dematerialization Circuit

screenshot.jpg Some Timelords like nothing more than travel around causing trouble, setting wrongs right and just generally making a nuisance of themsels. To do so, a TimeLords T.A.R.D.I.S. needs a working dematerialisation circuit, otherwise they are going nowhere.
