Dragonsiremods IS MOVING......

Over the last week I have been migrating the site to a new home. Most of the move is now complete, though this site will be remaining as a mirror, and backup site incase of any issues etc.


I will be updating this site to link to the new for downloads etc over the next few days, and this sight may experience some issues, but please visit the new site. It should seem firmilar, but with some new features.

Just a quick post...

I have been emailed a lot of questions over the last week, and frankly I haven't had time to email everyone. But common questions seem to be:

When will Pets be supported?
> Soon. Depends on how much code is changed. Mostly it will be time consuming finding the bugs, more than fixing time.


When will Wave 4 be considered done?
>I have a couple people testing to see what features are working/broken or needing fixed before moving on. It doesn't appear to be many left, so I will hopefully release a patch in a few days/maybe less.


What's coming next?
>I will be mapping it out this week, and expanding the listings under wave 5.


Then there are the usual mod requests, bugs, feature requests etc. Nothing that hasn't been asked or addressed before. Common questions seem to be about K9 & Fixed Point. Not sure why lol. K9 is planned, I'm just waiting for a good way to implement movement, NPC stuff. I will be testing some NPC stuff out in wave 5, so we will see how that goes. Fixed point.....will be implemented...soon.

I have some other website changes coming this week, so if something seems messed up wait 10 min.

I also have some small mods I will be releasing over the next couple weeks, that haven't been posted before.

So some cool stuff coming.

I'm afraid I just didn't get the time today to get to testing these as much as I wanted. These bellow are BETA (You know the deal) and have debug messages turned on. Files are updated to latest Generations Patch, so if you don't have this don't install.

I will be updating these further over the next couple days and once satisified working properly I will post the PDF/DOCX and will be moving on to Wave 5 Items.  I am also working on some other interesting things that will come as a nice surprise I think.

Site Link Updates

I have updated the links for Wave 1-3 objects. I have also made some changes to my posting software that now shows 2 downloads for each individual file. Primary Links are now Direct Hotlinks, to make it easier if an individual file is updated for someone to download.

I have also fixed the links for the PDFs & DOCx Files in each these waves.

Also made some minor layout changes.

I will be cleaning up wave 4 links tomorrow (aka after I wake up lol) I will also be posting some file updates as well.

Something to See Here (Soon)

Thanks for all the concern everyone, I have just been really busy. I did have some minor eye issues, and I have been back and forth to the witch doctors, but all seems good now.

If I was a betting man, I'd watch for some updates before pets arrives.....

**UPDATE**
As some of you will have noticed I have modified the site some, I don't plan to spend much time on this, just testing out a few small things. So any new additions you see may or may not stay. I will address any features I do decide to leave in much much latter.

There will be individual posts updated as I address any fixes needed in existing mods as per usual. Currently I haven't touched the game in a long while, so I need to spend a bit of time trying to recall where I left off with my bug list lol..

Pandorica will be released as promised, and any thing not posted from Wave 3, once I have finished testing and bug fixing. No ETA. But I am hoping to release before Pets.

I know Pets is a huge Release, and many will want mods updated for it, I have no idea how much of a code change will be required so there is definitely no time frame in place. I will likely address PETS before any new objects released. Though I may release a few small things depending on how my things go....

Small Note

Finished up Cracks & Remaining mods, just some coding left for the pandorica. And some minor cleanups. Expecting to finish releasing over the next couple days, works been a nightmare last couple days, sorry folks but real life sucks sometimes.

Starting next week, I will be releasing patches ONLY on Wed & Saturdays. I will be working crazy long hours 12 - 14 a day for 4-5 days at a time for about 9 weeks over the summer. So to try and avoid burn out etc and make things easier, I have decided to restrict  myself to 2 days where I will be posting updates on the blog. This should also make things easier for those who are wandering when updates are coming.

About Wave 5. A few have asked the theme, and since haven't had the time to wrap up 4, I haven't releaved them all yet, but I will be releasing some cloning stuff, not just adults, some time lord & alien dna manipulation etc objects, and testing a new Alien Species. pack will likely be 8-10 objects.

Example the biodata extract  container has been used internally in code since wave 1. It can store the timelord DNA print for cloning etc from. So I will be giving you some tools to to create and store DNA of your timelords/sims etc...

The Simbiotic Nuclei is a form of DNA repository for Timelords, it doesn't contain a genetic print, but identifies your sim as gallifreyian biology etc,....I expanded this code when I did revisited with the purpose of expanding it to allow markers of other alien races....the first test run of a new species will make its appearance in this wave.

Hopefully not more lol.

Congratz, he figured out my clue. And figured out the link to the file. Sooner than I expected..... People looked through all the posts, for links. Clue was hidden in the post itself, never had to look further. Words like : ALLUDING to has NOT been REVEALED. Were the hints. Rather clever chap to figure out the link from the words, might try this again sometime. In the meantime, link is removed, file removed for host and will be released with wave 5.

Recent Activity FAQ

Just to clear up some misunderstandings:

What Issues Version 1.22 caused:
>To Start EA in there wisdom pushed through this update, that contained code from Generations and some from prep work for Pets. It replaced the standard practice of the latest files in the latest expansion, and instead targetted the base game. So mods got broken. They changed some of their code for handling inventory, and items that get placed in inventory, added some skill availability flags to include pets etc. Not to mention some other changes to additional body types etc. So what does this mean, tech base game has access to code it shouldn't. But just doesn't get used because Generations isn't present. Though things like memories etc and core changes got incorporated.

What this meant for me:
>Instead of just doing a bug fix update to late night, it meant adjusting mods for generations without actually having generations installed. AKA not what I had planned on at all, caused nothing but headaches tracking down so really bad crash bugs etc. I even went so far is writing some internal code encase of not being able to get around, the issues quickly..which I managed to eventually.

Bottom Line
>Generations IS NOT supported. It's not meant to me. But it MIGHT be compatible. I will not know until I install and begin examining and testing. Would have helped if I hadn't spent 8 hours trying to fix custom skills only to find out how easily the fix turned out to be, once I identified it, and released they had actually updated the base game further than they had the latest EP.

Wave 4: Development got hijacked because of updating to this BUGFIX, and I'm trying to squeeze in time to get things done between work and sleep.  I will be posting patches and more of the files throughout the week.

Wave 5: is mapped out, and will be revealed as soon as Wave 4 stable. Some very interesting objects coming.

Wave 6: is mapped out, but I have 3 ways I might go hence the vote. I suspected everyone would vote for destiny, but gonna kick themselves when they see what the others are...well maybe, destiny is pretty cool too. Not sure which I'd want actually.....no not true I'd probably go for the HOUR. Because I know what it means lol.

Beyond this I have no definite plans.

Keep an eye out for updates throughout the week, but the full set of files should be available on Friday, unless circumstances prevent.

What to Expect Next Couple Days

I will be doing some rapid testing any changes to mods Thurs & Fri. I have had 0 time for actual testing this week and I don't really know what is working and not in Version 3.34. I have I believe found all the Inventory bugs and will posting this fix later tonight. Anyone who has updated there game to 1.22 and NOT Generations and knows of specific bugs not listed in the post bellow, it would be appreciated if you let me know. Email only.

In the mean time, full time lord status and time capsule usage can still be acquired from the cheat menu.

I HOPE to release some/all of wave 4 for public beta testing by the end of the weekend, earlier if possible. Just don't know yet. It may be buggy due to not getting into the hands of testers for any length of time before public release. There will then be a weekish for sorting out any bugs and hope to stamp stable on it by next weekend. I will then be updating the mods for generations, I assume most of the compatibility changes are likely part of the 1.22 update, but don't know yet. Those WHO HAVE donated will receive as soon as public beta of 3.42 (Generations Update) is ready. Followed by Public release 7 days later.

*****UPDATE
Just to clarify, when mods are updating to the next expansion, that expansion is required from that point on. That is the main reason why I wait until mods are stable and usable before moving on. So if Generations works with 3.34 & 3.41(Wave 4), great but I don't guarantee 3.42(Generations) to work for anyone without it. Just FYI. If bugs in 3.41/3.34 report them otherwise when 3.42 I don't go backwords.

Also you can expect to see the mod listings for wave 5 to start popping up after this weekend.

Still Sorting through the bugs from EA Update 1.22. I will post the updates here as I fix bugs. Please continue to email me if you find any and please provide me with as much detail as possible. I am working 10 - 12 hour days this week, so wont have any time to do much testing, until get a couple days off, currently on an 11 day stretch :(

Updates to Latest EA Patch- PLEASE READ

I have updated the mods to the lastest Late Night Patch 6.5.1. I have disabled some of the code that is part of wave 4, but I may have over looked some. So use ONLY if you have already updated, and are ok with using something not fully tested. I would strongly suggest if you use this not to save your game or use a save your not concerned about.
My work week is going to be extremely hectic, so I still do not have an eta on wave 4, though there is not much left other than some strict testing. I will update progress when i have a better idea of release day, but I am shooting for next weekend as a possibly public beta release. Generations update will follow stable release of wave 4.
If you have sonic devices the bellow file will replace them, they had to be replaced to fix a holding issue, and some fx positioning


****UPDATE
OK after investigating further I discovered a couple things, EA needs to get there updating $%# together. Base scripts are more updated than that of latest expansion installed....what a frigging nightmare. Not to mention 4 hours of rewriting skill system to rely more on nuclei then skill calls in case not fixable only to find out it might not have nothing to do with that. Also they change the way inventory is handled...and a few other annoyances.

Hope to sort out all this...soon.

OKAY HOURS AND HOURS LATER LOL
Only have to work in 4 hours lol. OK these files are the stablish versions, not everything is tested but the major conflicts are resolved. IF there are bugs....and I am sure they are, since EA felt the need to insert Pets Code into the update as well, not hard to tell they have been writing both expansions at the same time. Please email me the details. Wave 4 will be updated to require 1.22.9.

Comments & Asking For Help

As a rule I tend to reply to most emails right away, if I am near a computer etc. With my different jobs I tend to be near one often and I can as rule email a reply pretty quick. Pretty much the only time not near one is when sleeping, and then not so sure about that....

However I am not going to reply over and over again. I have a FAQ that tells people if you have a question email me, and I will try. DO NOT comment in posts looking for assistance. IT's not what they are for, as outlined...for those who have read.

There are also guides on how to enable custom mods & sounds.

I have pdf/docx that give an outline how some of the mods work, for the rest experiment, play have fun. IF I find more information is needed or something needs explaining I will add info etc.

Wanna report an issue or ASK for help email me, ask, and if i can help I will. If you email me 15 times because you haven't tried to figure out how to do anything and expect me to walk you through everything forget it.

If a link is not working, and it should be ask. IF a link is pass worded and says a date in the future don't.

CURSING in comments is strictly forbidden. And frankly I don't care if you downloaded your copies of the games or bought them, but don't wine to me you can't update or region codes don't match etc because you pirated them. I don't care. And commenting about downloading them illegally in the comments is certainly not going to happen. I have removed 2 separate comments from 2 people in 24 hours for blatantly saying they did or alluding to, and I will not tolerate it. What you do, what you buy is your business, keep it that way.

I decided that after wave 5 I would open up the next wave to the public....sort of. To the right is a poll with 3 titles. Trust me they are not necessarily what you first think. I will have the poll up over the next month, no I am not saying what they are.

Generations & Recent EA Patch

I have been saying this for ages now, if EA puts out a patch and you update, there is always the chance that the game will go pow, boom! EA doesn't like custom objects, and like to change things. Plus scripts are compiled against EA internals, if they update something..pow.

When using custom scripts it always best to remove custom mods, install updates, and reinstall mods when patch is available, or even better avoid patching until mods are updates so you can accomplish all at once.

As advised next release will support current patches only, after release and stable will update to Generations & Patch introduced by EA to base game to support update.

Please be patient or if you cannot wait then removed mods from the game, until supported. As I cannot support 2 separate patches at the same time, without a ton of uninstalling reinstalling.

I may opt to update to patch, disabling new features so that patch is updated for those who couldn't wait, but no guarantees...and more importantly if you have generations...forget it. Game will go pow, wait until files updated.

Progress is almost completed on Wave 4, should be sending to beta testers over the next few days. First public beta release should be in a week or so. No Exact date. Those who donated will get the password for the exclusive from wave 4, and it will work for all exclusives going forward.

After wave 4 has been bug tested and deemed stable, I will update all mods to Generations. Thanks to those who have donated I have purchased a copy of Generations early, and will be updating to Generations immediately after wave 4 considered stable by testers etc. I will be making the update to generations available early to anyone who has donated.

So as I am on the final legs of wave 4 I am announcing what is next...or at least partially: 3 Objects for now:

Before anyone gets too excited the daleks in the blueprints, are a texture placeholder that was placed on the fly, but is considered the "blank". Aka I still need to create the textures for the different blue prints you can create. No this is not to build logic skill or other crap, this is so you can create object on the workbench using the blueprints to UNLOCK building of items. This was something I had in mind before skills etc to allow what tech can be made, and the blueprints will be stored in the workbench. In the end it will be like the lazarus chamber, once somehting is unlocked you can build it etc...how this will all eventually tie together or when I don't know. This is not part of wave 4, so will not be spending to much time on it, and no this is not necessarily the final model.

Script Core 3.3.Release

With the event fixed and in final testing, and the majority of major bugs squashed I very likely  be posting the final updated links tonight when I get home, for version 3.3 of script core, and unless some major bug pops up its head the next available file will be 3.4 which will contain the beta for wave 4.

What does this mean? This means I will be focusing more of my attention of wave 4 items. And with some vacation time coming up in a few days, should see some rapid updates on progress...we can hope lol. So any small bugs or changes to existing items, or added features etc will take place in the next beta.

I have said this a couple times, but a few people emailed me concerned over the release of generations. Unlike Late Night (I HOPE) EA wont cause a major issue with custom scripts and will not require all package files to be updated. Wave 4 Will be released WITHOUT initial support of Generations. 

WHAT????? THE HORROR!!! lol No fear, this is to ensure that those who do not run out and buy generations can enjoy the new stuff coming. I will update everything to generations after initial release, but will keep both script versions available.

Again assuming EA doesn't break us again lol.

Thanks again to all those who have been sending donations, as promised once wave 4+ is released exclusives will be made available to you. Also appreciate the ad viewers, this always helps as well. 

I'm expecting to release wave 4 items for beta testing right around generations released date, so please please please if you plan on installing generations, wait for a supported version before using my mods.

Wave 4 FAQ


I've been emailed a few of the same questions over and over so I'll try and answer a few of the more common ones. So I am answering a few more questions, and some in a bit more detail.

  • As depicted in the video I posted this week, SimHenge is placed on a community lot. It has a hologram & forcefield around hologram so you cannot walk through the hidden entrance. This is 1 object. The stairs are placed, after henge so access can be gained  into a basement. How you design this lot or basement is up to you. You don't even have to use it. I AM CONSIDERING releasing a prebuilt lot ready for use.
  • Pandorica, will store a sim, similar in nature to how a cryo chamber will work, except any sim within will be safe from temporal alterations. But cannot exit without help. from outside with a sonic device.
  • Dispersed SIMS are gone forever.
  • SIMS Absorbed into CRACK do not mean they are gone forever. Exact nature or limits etc have yet to be decided.
  • Cracks appearing will destroy world or lot depending on scope. This is to protect your game experience. You will be able to set to affect world or lot, by default will be limited to home lot. Event will be triggered manually. And will be rewarded if completed.
  • Brain Canister, will contain a Sims Dispersed Body Remains ONLY if remains are intended to remain.
  • Brain Canister is more complicated then a simple grave or simple jar. Full features will come into play in next wave, info not released yet.
  • Key of Rassilon will have more fuctions in the future, in this wave it will be required to power the demat gun. Demat Gun & Key will be built items. And workbench functions and interactions will be expanded upon. might see why there is a drawer, and it's not for scrap.

Event Fix - Update

I have been working on rewriting my approach to the Event to fall more inline with NPC service sims such as grim reaper or fireman, newspaper delivery etc. Which I had planned on investigation anyway..just not right now lol.
         Primary code is working..for me. Event still fallows the same course of actions, but less chance the autonomy of the game should interfere etc. It has not replaced the existing event code for 1 reason only. I haven't been able to get it tested enough yet. As soon as my testers get the time to really bug test it, see what happens under a bunch of situations, then it will be adapted to replace. I 'd rather not release it buggy again. So soon as I know its working it will be updated.
         In the meantime, I am still picking away at some bugs that crop up and working on wave 4 items. So far progress is moving along well.

***UPDATE***
Good news 1 tester has kicked around the Event and is indicating its stable at night and day which was one of the biggest issues that could cause a failure. Still waiting for the other testers to get some time to slug away at it.
A couple people have volunteered to bug test, and I appreciate that, but as a rule I ALWAYS decline anyone who asks. Mostly because most players who ask, are mostly just interested in getting there hands on new stuff faster. Most people who report a bug like  "its broken", "I can't do this" or "Is this broken". This is not helpful. The couple testers I have now, do a great job finding my mistakes lol. And point out things that work better or notice things I would never consider.
A tester says, I tried this, I then tried this, I then did this with this and it worked. So when I tried this it worked but ifI tried this it didn't perhaps we should do this or can we change this and do this. IF that makes any sense lol. If someone proves themselves helpful and a good tester, then I am more open to suggestions, but those who go beyond and are a proper troubleshoot tester, I will offer to allow them to become a full tester and have access to everything to break or play, they don't need to ask me.

As of 10 min ago I am down 2 testers. 1 do to other projects that keep them too busy, and have only perodically been popping in to help now and again. And 1 who just had a serious family loss earlier today and is in rather bad shape, and my heart goes out to him, and his family, and out of respect I have not posted the details. So until his role is filled or enough time passes for him to return, bug testing will be slower going. As I have had to take extended periods away from modding he knows he can always return when he wishes.
